Faith Statement

We’re a diverse and loving congregation, built around the Word of God, family, and community. We believe in a real, powerful New Testament experience that uplifts, and changes lives. We love to praise God according to scripture!

We believe in the power of the Acts 2:38 message to save from sin, restore lives, families, and hope. There is nothing that God cannot do! The Word of God works today as a roadmap for our lives, both spiritual and physical.

more than just a book

The Bible Way

The Word of God

We believe the Bible to be the inspired, infallible Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16). The Bible is the only source of absolute truth which man possesses. Therefore, all doctrine, faith, hope, and instruction for the church must be based upon—and harmonize with—the Bible. It is to be read and studied by everyone. The Scripture is not for private interpretation (2 Peter 1:20-21), but can easily understood by those who take the time to “rightly divide” it (1 Timothy 2:15).

Baptism in Jesus’ Name

Baptism is more than an outward identification. It is “for the remission of sins” (Acts 2:38). Paul was instructed that baptism would “wash away” his sins (Acts 22:16). Peter said we are saved by baptism (1 Peter 3:20). Jesus said you must be “born of water” to be saved (John 3:5; Mark 16:16). The scriptural formula for baptism was ALWAYS “in the name of Jesus” (Acts 2:38, 8:16, 10:48, 19:5), which is the only name which has saving power (Acts 4:12).

The Godhead

There is one God (Deuteronomy 6:4), the Father, Who is a Spirit (John 4:24). He was manifest in the flesh in the person of Jesus Christ (I Timothy 3:16). He now dwells in the hearts of His children, known to us as the Holy Ghost (John 14:18, 26). The fulness of the Godhead dwells in Jesus (Colossians 2:9).

Repentance

Repentance is commanded by God (Acts 17:30). John the Baptist preached repentance (Matthew 3:1-2, 8), Jesus proclaimed it (Matthew 4:17), and the apostles prescribed it for both Jews and Gentiles (Acts 2:38, 11:18). The Greek word for repentance means a change of mind, lifestyle, and purpose. Jesus emphatically stated, “Except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish” (Luke 13:3).

The Baptism of the Holy Ghost

Jesus said you must be “born of the Spirit” in order to enter the Kingdom of God (John 3:5). Scriptural belief should be accompanied by receiving the Spirit (John 7:38-39). Paul said those without it were not the children of God (Romans 8:9). The evidence of having received the gift of the Holy Ghost is speaking with tongues (Acts 2:4, 10: 46).

Holiness

A lifestyle of holiness is commanded in scripture (Hebrews 12:14; Titus 2:11-12; I Peter 1:15-19, 2:21-23). Because God is holy, He has made it clear that He disapproves of His people indulging in activities which are not conducive to righteousness, holiness, and moral purity. Godly living should characterize the life of every Christian, and we should live according to the pattern and example given in the Word of God.
